About

After a summer break, we are kickstarting our events again with an introductory workshop on the R programming language. No previous knowledge of R is required, and we welcome all genders and identities to attend our events at R-Ladies Vienna.

Abstract

R is a powerful programming language and environment widely used across fields from statistics and economics to psychology, biology, and more. It also provides a versatile analytical toolkit for business analysts and professionals working with data.

The goal of this workshop is for our attendees to become acquainted with R to start their data analytics journey. Within this 1.5-hour workshop, we will cover:

  • R as calculator
  • Basic data types and structures
  • Reading data into R and exporting for external purposes
  • Basic data processing
  • Basic data visualization
  • Loops, functions, and conditional statements

What to prepare

  • Before the workshop, install R and RStudio on your laptop by following the 2-step guide at https://posit.co/download/rstudio-desktop/
  • On the workshop day, bring your own laptop to follow the workshop material closely and code along with us!
